The Security tab allows you to set additional security options.

 

 

Logoff

Enable additional security options when running PlanetRemote with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Run PlanetRemote as a system service, so that you will be able to regain control of your desktop after you lock out or logoff your computer (workstation).

 

  • Do nothing
    Select this option to leave the desktop as set.
     

  • Lock Workstation
    Select this option if you are the sole user of your computer and you want to lock out your computer after disconnecting to prevent unauthorized use.

  • Logoff Workstation (recommended)
    Select this option if multiple users are locally sharing your computer and logon under different user names. This setting will ensure that you are automatically logged off of the PlanetRemote-enabled computer after disconnecting from a remote access session.

Sharing

With PlanetRemote's sharing function, multiple remote access users can connect, view and interact with the same local desktop simultaneously.

 

  • Allow sharing of the desktop (recommended)
    Select this option to allow a large number of users to control your computer and its files remotely at the same time.
     

  • Do not share the desktop, disconnect new remote users
    Select this option to disable the sharing of your computer. Only one connection/one remote user will be allow on your computer. With one remote user online, any others attempting to logon will be disconnected.

    Do not share the desktop, disconnect existing user

    Select this option to disconnect an existing remote user who is already logged in and allow another to connect. This option is useful in ensuring that you always maintain exclusive remote access to your computer.

Idle Timeout

You can automatically disconnect a remote user when interaction with the PlanetRemote-enabled computer's desktop has not occurred for a predetermined period of time. Use the slider bar to establish an acceptable time period of inactivity, for up to one minute. Most users will frequently click the left- or right-mouse button, or type on the keyboard. When no such action has occurred for the period of time you have selected, the user will be disconnected. When activated, this function will disconnect all connected remote users, even if the sharing function is enabled.

 

  • Disconnect remote user if idle for more than
    Select this option to automatically disconnect a remote user that has not interacted with the PlanetRemote-enabled computer's desktop (keyboard or mouse) for the predetermined period defined by the slider bar.
