You can use your own domain name by upgrading your current service level to PlanetDNS Pro. Instead of having a domain name like yourname.planetdns.net, you will have a name like www.yourdomain.com that will point to your computer.

How to setup PlanetDNS Pro Service

There are four easy steps to using your own domain name with PlanetDNS Pro.

  1. Step 1 - Domain Registration
Register the domain name that you want to use with the PlanetDNS Pro at the domain registrar of your choice. We recommend that you use http://www.godaddy.com for your domain registration, as domains are provided at very competitive prices.

  2. Step 2 - Update Name Server Information for your Domain to PlanetDNS
In order for PlanetDNS Client to operation, you must provide details that will link your domain name to our name servers. To do this, go back to the website where you registered your domain name and follow instructions to direct that site's name servers to point to ours, which you will need to list as:

    ns1.planetdns.net
    ns2.planetdns.net
    ns3.planetdns.net
    ns4.planetdns.net

  3. Step 3 - Download PlanetDNS Client onto your Computer
Before you can order the Pro service, you must download PlanetDNS Client software and install it on your computer. Once you have installed the software, you will have access to an authorization code, which is needed to order the Pro service online from our website.

  4. Step 4 - Order PlanetDNS Pro Service
Order the PlanetDNS Pro service using our online purchase feature. You will need to provide your authorization code for the PlanetDNS Client you have installed onto your computer. To access your authorization code, click on the Account tab in the PlanetDNS Client software.
